Description

The Show Commands allows you to quickly control visibility of entities types. This will effect presentation of entities within both the Display window and the List panel. These commands may be accessed within the view menu or from the view toolbar.

 

Tip: The Show Commands are ideal for quickly reducing clutter in the display window. For more fine-grained control, the Layers panel may be more appropriate.


All the Show commands can be accessed in the View menu (left) or via the View toolbar (right).

The Show commands not only control visibility of grid entities, but can also control visibility of supporting tools like the XYZ Axes or the Drawing Guide. Refer to the table below for a complete listing.

Show All

Show/Hide All is a shortcut to toggle all visibility controls simultaneously.

Show Domains (Ctrl+F3)

Show Domains is a toggle for global control over the display of domains. If Show Domains is checked, domains will be displayed. If Show Domains is not checked, domains will not be displayed and the domain icon in the Mask toolbar will be disabled.

Show Connectors (Ctrl+F4)

Show Connectors is a toggle for global control over the display of connectors. If Show Connectors is checked, connectors will be displayed. If Show Connectors is not checked, connectors are not displayed and the connector icon in the Mask toolbar will be disabled.

Show Nodes (Ctrl+F5)

Show Nodes is a toggle for global control over the display of nodes. If Show Nodes is checked on, all nodes are displayed. If Show Nodes is checked off, no nodes are displayed.

Show Database (Ctrl+Shift+F5)

Show Database is a toggle for global control over the display of database entities. If Show Database is checked, display of database entities is controlled by their shown or hidden status. If Show Database is not checked, no database entities are displayed and the database icon in the Mask toolbar will be disabled.

Show Sources (Alt+F5)

Show Sources is a toggle for global control over the display of source entities. If Show Sources is checked, display of sources is controlled by their shown or hidden status. If Show Sources is not checked, no sources are displayed and the sources icon in the Mask toolbar will be disabled.

Show Overset (Ctrl+Shift+F6)

Show Overset is a toggle for global control over the display of overset entities. This includes fringes, orphans, donors, candidates, etc.

Show Body Axes (Ctrl+Shift+F3)

Show Axes controls whether the rotation axes are displayed. If Show Axes is checked, the rotation axes are displayed. If Show Axes is not checked, the rotation axes are not displayed.

Show XYZ Axes (Ctrl+Shift+F4)

Show XYZ Axes controls whether the XYZ axes are displayed. If Show XYZ Axes is checked, the XYZ axes are displayed. If Show XYZ Axes is not checked, the XYZ axes are not displayed.

Show View Manipulator

Show View Manipulator controls whether the View Manipulator (VM) is shown in the Display window. If Show View Manipulator is checked, the VM is displayed. If Show View Manipulator is not checked, the VM is not displayed. See the GUI View Manipulator section for more details on the VM.

Show Drawing Guide (F4)

Show Drawing Guide controls whether the drawing guide overlay is displayed. If Show Drawing Guide is checked, the guide is displayed. If Show Drawing Guide is not checked, the guide is not displayed. Attributes for guide density, color, and opacity can be set using Edit, Preferences. The drawing guide can be very useful for helping with freehand construction of entities, particularly connectors or database curves. Note that no part of the drawing guide can be picked or selected for any command.

 

Note: Hovering your mouse over a disabled toolbar option will pop-up a tooltip indicating the reason why that option is disabled.
