The CGNS file type refers to the CFD General Notation System (CGNS) standard for transferring grid information.
All cell types and both the CGNS-Structured and CGNS-Unstructured formats are supported. Import of CGNS files with multiple base nodes is supported. Furthermore, all the blocks will be imported under one "base node" which refers to the top level file node containing all the zones.
Caution: Fidelity Pointwise only supports importing meshes that contain canonical cells (i.e. triangles and quadrilaterals in 2D and tetrahedra, pyramids, prisms, and hexahedra in 3D). Fidelity Pointwise does not currently support importing meshes that contain hanging nodes, polyhedra, or high-order cells. However, polyhedra and high-order export are both supported for the CGNS format.
